CZECH AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY
Basic Facts and Figures - Data for 2012 Year

The data stated below represent an abstract of a publication issued by the AIA Secretariat for AIA members in May 2013. This material follows the reports on the Czech automotive industry published before and comprising its total results in the years 1994 - 2011. Owing to the fact that AIA companies  represent the most important group within the motor industry (see List of Members) it is possible to look upon the results stated as an overview of the present-day situation in the automotive sector.

AIA - Production - 2012

    Total Production ........................
720 945,6 mil. CZK
Index 2012 / 2011
+ 6,4 %

     Total Production / 1 employee ...
6,559 mil. CZK
Index 2012 / 2011
+ 5,9 %

Total industrial output of the CR (represented all registered companies) in 2012 was 3 639 143 mil. CZK. The automotive industry participated by 19,81 % on that value.

AIA - Number of employees - 2012

 Vehicle manufacturers
33 737 persons
 Component manufacturers (suppliers)
73 073 persons
 Other companies
3 105 persons
Total (valid to 31.12.2012):
109 915 persons

The total number of employees within AIA members in 2012 year decreased to a value of around 110 000 people. Structural changes appeared both at vehicle makers (above all the drop at the commercial vehicle manufacturers), and component suppliers. As far as the individual product groups are concerned, the workforce transfer is aimed at component producers. This fact shows that the restructuring being under way in the automotive industry responds to the changes of production programmes and to the necessity to reach higher productivity of labour.

It may be seen that the Czech automotive industry has developed essentially a quite stable ownership structure dominated by two main groups of owners. The share of the both groups  in the total registered capital is approximately  the same with a bit greater influence of companies having foreign partners. The share of IPFs and DIKs is decreasing gradually.

It may be stated that the position of the automotive industry (and therefore also the position of AIA member companies) within the Czech republic is not only important from the point of view of the national economy but it also acts as a positive example.
Automotive industry companies represent at present a backbone of the Czech national economy.
